OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF FOOTER KLANG CITY QUARTER MARATHON 2023
The media conference for FOOTER Klang City Quarter Marathon 2023 (FKCQM2023) was held at one of the Klang’s landmark building – Centro Mall, marking the official launch of the event on November 1st with the cooperation and endorsed by Klang Municipal Council (MPK) nearly six months of preparation. This event successfully secured sponsorships and backing from various local businesses and companies in Klang, uniting efforts to enhance the event’s impact. The event date set to take place on December 17th, 6 a.m. at Centro Mall Klang while the Race Entry Pack Collection (REPC) is scheduled for December 9th to 10th, allowing participants to collect their race kits between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interested individuals can register on the official website through klangmarathon.com with registration fees of RM 50 for the 5.5km fun run and RM 65 for the 10.55km quarter marathon. A discounted rate is available until November 10th, and the registration deadline is November 17th.

Mike Lee, Project Director of KCM emphasized the significance of Klang’s transformation from town to city, viewing it not merely as a formality but as a reflection of the town’s growth and potential. This transformation aims to present Klang as a vibrant and attractive city upcoming. Although Klang City Marathon plans only quarter marathon of 10.55km for 2023, it is seen as a pivotal milestone in driving this change. Looking ahead, the team has set its sights on the next few years, with future plans to host a half marathon of 21.0975km by 2024 and a full marathon of 42.195km by 2025. These milestones will not only test the endurance of participants, but also highlight Klang’s impressive transformation. The event’s primary objective is to foster unity among Klang’s diverse population, transcending cultural and social boundaries, with the marathon symbolizing community spirit and collective achievement.

To promote community engagement and sustainability, MONZO EVENTS, the organizer for FKCQM2023, will collaborate with the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) to bring the excitement of “Klang Car-Free Day” to the audience this coming December. This initiative aims to unite the community and reduce the environmental impact of daily transportation while Project Director Mike Lee is determined to elevate Klang as a tourist destination starting with the marathon on December 17, 2023, will be served as a steppingstone toward this goal. The Klang Car-Free Day event is integrated with FKCQM2023 to enhance its significance, allowing participants to experience not only car-free lane running but also appreciate Klang’s diverse landscapes, architecture, cultural and historical attractions.
